I've started fertilizing and adding a little organic matter. I put in osmocote. (Apparently people use it in aquariums and the fish aren't harmed.) I mist weekly with miraclegrow. Foliar, so it doesn't get into the water. (I found some left over miraclegrow. When it's gone, I'll try something more organic. I found fish emulsion, too.) I've been burying apple cores, any fish that die, and a few sticks and corn cobs. I also mulched with grass clippings. I don't know if the plants are liking the organic matter more, or the cooler roots, but something is working better than last year.
