might be. I sowed the seeds everywhere. I think it is probably not a clone because there is no mother bulb around.

Nice photos! Really happy to see "my" watermelon, looking like a watermelon.
You have raccoons!?

it was my first real ripe watermelon. what should it have looked like instead? ?) yes racoons spread year by year further north and west. Recently I saw one dead by the road. It is quite common here since some years. Also marten dogs are spreading and there are wolfs again in my area since some years. It is getting wilder again...

It looks good!
I'm surprised about the raccoons. I thought they were strictly North American. I suppose some idiot let some loose. They get hit by cars here a lot, much more than other animals except skunks. Skunks are convinced it's YOUR job to get out of their way, so that's understandable. We hit a raccoon once. It was at night and it was like someone throwing themselves in front of a train - no way we could miss. I think it saw the light on the road (from our headlights) and thought, "good time to cross - I can see!" Wrong.
Interesting it is getting more wild. Fewer farmers and more urban dwellers?

Wow I didn't know about raccoons in Europe. But they are the #1 reason I hadn't planted corn for the last few years. I'd love to get back to my corn and Teosinte projects but I just can't fight the raccoons right now. I either need a high closed off fence or a low budget motion detector hacked into a strobe light.
I knew raccoons are a highly invasive species in Japan being released in the 80s or 90s because of a children's Japanese cartoon where raccoons were a cute lovable pet and at the end of the cartoon they were released into the wild to be free. Stupid. Cause people imitated the cartoon.
Raccoons are so terrible. But what do you do. I had a great time in my environmental ethics class this semester. It was fun thinking about whether all plants and animals have a right to exist, whether all species are equal or not (have equal moral standing similar to legal standing), and other topics like human overpopulation.
