we have avoided frosts and the forecast for the coming week has no chances of frost in there at all. the lowest night is forecast to be down to 44F and the warmest day is forecast to be up to 74F. the past week has mostly been rain, slow, steady, mostly able to soak in without flooding. this coming week has no rain in it at all and i hope it stays that way as then i can finally get some more things done in the gardens when the mud dries out enough. in the meantime it is bean shelling and sorting time and some picking when the weather cooperates.

It's been an uncommonly cool September, usually our hottest month; thank God climate change is a liberal myth, or we'd be looking at being screwed. Rain predicted on the coast, which is hopeful of an early season.

no frost in the forecast for the next week still. this is a pretty late season with no temperature below 45F. plenty of recent rains, too much in fact since i'm not getting much done outside. a few more days and i'll be out of beans to shell out. still more sorting work to go, but overall i would rather be outside getting things done than inside.

so glad to see some rains for the PNW and CA at last. we had our first frost about a week ago. no frosts since then. plenty of rain for us. so much that i'm now behind in getting gardens put up for the winter, but them's the breaks. today i should be able to get out and get some things done that are needed. we have the hoses to drain and coil up before storing them and i can get the mud shoes out for doing some garden work. i also need to get the garlic planted.
