we have wild and cultivated varieties of strawberries here, i don't really need to try that since they are all quite happy to spread around without too much seed starting from me.
i used to have around 10,000 strawberry plants until the deer found out i had them and then i gradually lost most of my large strawberry patches outside the fenced gardens.
i do know some people who do start strawberries from seed, but not on this forum.

Thr strawberry required normaly a cold period for germinate. Under my coldframe the temperatures are between 2 and 31°C and the humidity rate is between 30 and 99%.
Its sufficient for brake the dormancy?

it may take longer than you really want to wait, between 1-6 weeks so it is perhaps unlikely that it will be cool enough in there for that long as the season will be getting warmed up. i'm not sure as i've not done it myself, but good luck if you persist.

One of my plans in the future is to breed my own strawberries.
I bought moschata strawberry (fragaria moschata) and Beach Strawberry (Fragaria chiloensis) seeds and i am current stratifying them. They are tiny and moschata is not common in the USA but I've heard it has an amazing taste. I am nervous but excited to start them. I also want to get a good line of fragaria virginiana which is native to my part of the USA.
Most commercial strawberry are hybrids of Fragaria chiloensis x F virginiana (known as Fragaria × ananassa). If it came from a hybrid it may or may not be fertile seeds.
If you start them I think you should be patient as some may pop up the 2nd year as well.

Last year I harvested strawberry seeds from cultivated varieties and sowed them. The seedlings look different from the parents, they are more branched and make many layers. I am curious to see what the fruits are like. Cross-pollination with wild European strawberries is possible, I even hope that this has happened. But I don't know if the two species are compatible.

The strawberry seedling is extremly difficult! I will try again a new time. The strawberry required perfect conditions when she has germinate.
