Bah! I'm envious of those who don't have any snow or are seeing significant snowmelt. *pouts* I'll have to go to the mailbox and see if there's anything good in there for me, after I clear the car of yet another foot of snow. lol

Fog, torrential rains, then fog and colder temperatures last night, no doubt contributing to the Crash of Flight 3407 just 20 minutes from here. May the Souls lost in that crash find their way into the Light.... The whole thing is very sad. But it could have been alot worse. I think the weather could have been a really big factor in the crash. That's like the 3rd plane incident in the past 6 weeks here in NY.

A foot of snow huh ceara? Darn. We had that February melt here in Ottawa but now it's back to same old, same old. The real melt begins at least a month from now.

Yes it's snowing even now. It won't feel like spring outside to me until I can see free moving water in the marsh. But inside I have Spring Fever real bad. lol Can't wait to be able to go out and play in the dirt.

I'm just now getting started in the greenhouse, but have had cabin fever for quite a bit now, trying to get some physical/spiritual health issues figured out as well and feeling a bit overwhelmed, but soon enough all of that will melt away with the warming of the spring sun.

If I had any hope Spring was going to come early this year, it's all gone. It snowed last night and it is pretty cold now. Only yesterday it was quite warm and I did some tilling in the garden to prepare the soil for early sowing and onion bulb planting. Now I will have to wait for the soil to defrost AGAIN! I hate winter...

Iva & I seem to have the same weather patterns! Which way is it moving? My satellite pictures are a lesson in despair. 2 days ago, with sun, my unheated greenhouse recorded 98 degrees American (because I failed to vent it!), and I was out creating a new bed for the asparagus roots I have ordered for this Spring. Yesterday, I had to shovel the van out before I could drive into town for my 1-day-a-week work! Today, it's raining, the snow is gone, and Conan the Corgi is standing at the top of the garden stairs "guarding" and refusing to come inside.

It's 53* right now, but generally we're back into a 40s by day, 20s by night routine, with rains when they are not predicted... still, I know spring is on the way!

First afternoon of proper garden work this year today!
We dug a new bed for the (horribly neglected) rhubarb which was here when we bought the house 5 years ago, and we've only just got round to dealing with it. I chopped up the rhubarb and replanted it then chucked a load of manure on. Hopefully by next year it'll produce a decent crop!
Also replanted and manured the asparagus I planted from seed last year - only 9 little crowns so I'll plant more seeds this year. I want at least 12 plants, possibly more, depending on how much space I can bear to give up - too many other veggies fighting for space this year...
Been lovely this weekend. Snowdrops everywhere, sun shining, birds singing and some even showing signs of nesting already, and it's warm for Feb. I was perfectly comfortable in a sweatshirt.
I guess we'll have a few more cold spells before Spring "proper" though.

A lovely bright, sunny, warm weekend here in Essex. The dawn chorus is getting louder and there is a lot of bird activity in the garden. A quick nosey in my garden today, we have been decorating our bathroom so my poor garden hasn't seen me for over a week, and I spotted crocus with big fat purple buds, the daffs are starting to get buds, the snowdrops are still plentiful and the bluebell clumps are thick and lush. Fingers crossed no more snow!
