This made me think of my youngest when he was about 4 years old and thought he was being left out of something and he would say, "What about me? What about "The Tomsters?'" SO cute! ;D

To all interested and involved in the per. grain project here are misc details: The History of our recent problems[/b] seem to have arisen in this fashion - Various people expressed interest. Those who sent me the $25 were sent the seed directly from me (I was was financially strapped and was not going to finance my work and yours to). Those who did not send me the $25 were assumed to have sent it to Michel or his designated person. Seed was sent out to Michel. Then on questions from me because of questions that came from others to me about not recieving seed I was directed to send more seed to Val to distribute ...Michel or other designated by him was assumed , based on previous conversation with Michel, to have contact with all interested persons who did not send $ to me direct, and so seed was sent to Val (not because she asked me to but because of Michels directive.) ...All seed sample sizes and other details had been provided Michel and it was not without foundation to believe he had passed all necessary info to Val since she was who I was told to send the seed to for distribution (for whoever had not dealt direct with me)
If you did not send me money but sent it to Michel or Val then please ask Michel or Val to send you the seed. Home Grown is kindly hosting the forum but if you want to know you are involved and be sure of getting seed then you will have to email me directly at atimberline@yahoo.com ,...you are also free to give me a call at 678-949-1351 . The 25$ is just a postage and partial time cost coverage for our expense and work with your involvement and we must have that to treat your interest as serious.
Kokopelli is in something of a separate realm, talk to Michel or Dominique
...I hope this helps you direct your questions and all to the right person(s) Tim Peters Perennial Grain Pioneers Perennial Grain Breeder/Researcher

I hope this research goes, well. No matter any issues, in communications or whatever else was happening.
However we do have perrenial grains now. I have sand dropseed, and indian rice grass, These grow in ARID conditions and produce a very heathy crop. tribes of many areas grew this as a grain for who knows how long. I have another that is showing more promise in my particular settings the ther two prefer sand, my dropseed didnt even sprout, and the ricegrass seems fine, but Im not sure it likes its home. a grss called panic grass by nativeseeds.org, is growing well for me though. I have other upposedly edible grasses, although these three actually seem edbile when you have the seeds, could be grainlike I guess. but either way I wish you sucess in these trials, I have thought of this myself rewild the crops. an amazing idea. I have great aspirations in this regard myself, with tepary beans, amaranth, and possibly tomatillos.

Hey guys! I got my seeds also. Wow! I'm delighted to get rye!!! I was expecting wheat or something else, but rye is what I really wanted.
Now then, Tim told me a bit of what to do but I have some questions yet.
1. I wasn't expecting 3 different types of seed. I'm presuming they should be planted separately? If yes, how far apart? 2. Should I start them then transplant or direct seed? 3. Is there some sort of standard "diary" format with questions I'll need to answer as the project progresses? 4. How frequently should I report to Tim? 5. How "weeded" should this be? As in, should we have rows with fabric around the plants or is some stuff along the aisle ok, or can I let our regular grass intermingle as it naturally regrows? 6. When should I plant it?
That's all I can think of for the moment. Awesome project people!

Sorry Jo, maybe Bunkie can help you here. From what I gather, you are suppose to start the seeds in cells and then transplant them a foot apart. When you harvest the seeds you are supposed to use the straw for mulch, but other than that, I don't know. Sometimes I feel like a mushroom - kept in the dark and covered with s--t.
You can try Tim at his yahoo addy.

But Val! You make that sound like a bad thing! Haven't you noticed that up from the s--t comes the most glorious and valuable of food?

hi jo, just catching up here. here's a link to where we were discussing growing wheat and rye. i posted some pics and reported what i had done. tim also added more info on growing. alanbishop.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=market&action=display&thread=1287#18140i had started my perennial wheat and perennial rye plants in April, if i recall, i believe in a flat of potting soil, in rows, last year. they got really big and were transplanted late cause of the cold spring. however, they took off and did beautifully as plants. the p. wheat produced a whopping amount of seed, and the rye produced seed, but nothing viable. since then tim's told us we need to plant in the months of July and August. he did say they can be planted in cells, as i did, and apparently handle stress well. of the 75 plus p. wheat plants i planted last year, only 4 or 5 came back this year. i'll be taking some pics soon. they don't look very much like last years?! all, and i do mean all, of the p. rye plants came back. they grew to almost 7 plus feet tall, and now are just about readying to be harvested. i also noticed yesterday that at the bottom of the dry looking p. rye plants, there are fresh grassy spouts happening. tim did say they should come back to life after hatvesting and they seem to be doing so. i planted my plants in a zig-zag pattern, 2 rows in a row, two plants in the first row and then a plant in between the other two in the second row. i kept them pretty clear of weeds, and did mulch with straw...didn't do the mulch this year, and they were fine. the first year i watered pretty frequently...with a trench in the middle of the two rows, and then we had irrigation tape set up. this year, they only got a few doses from the hose, then, i left them on their own. if they looked like they needed water, i watered them, but they maintained very well with less, than more. hope this helps...

Tim was very clear to me saying instructions had been given to Michel with the seed for distribution. I don't have time to chase this right now, but I think someone needs to get the instructions and make sure they are distributed too.

You are right Patrick, and I have to send them away, but I cannot find them in my messages. I did send them to Kokopelli, so I will ask Dominique to send them back to me.
