Oh, I served it with a fruit salad - early strawberries, dried apricots, foreign kiwis and mangoes, grapefruit... very yum...

On a note of regret....I am almost out of frozen green beans!!! I obviously didn't freeze enough this past year. Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa

Tonight I'm making rump roast, taters, and carrots (with a little onion, much to Corie's dismay), corn bread and some green beans.

I'm so excited. I made my first meatloaf last night (I don't usually do much with beef, unless I can get it local and know how the cow was treated). It was perty dang good if I do say so myself. However, I still CANNOT make homemade gravy. What's the secret? I made that rue stuff, but it was horrible.

The orange chicken sounds Yummy Moonie! Now as far as gravy is concerned, there are several ways to approach it. First I would ask, why does one need gravy for meatloaf?? Paintman just smothers his with (coughcough) Ketchup. Secondly, I usually make meatloaf in a pyrex loaf pan which doesn't seem to produce the bits on the bottom that would produce a good gravy? Last but certainly not least of my helpful hints ;D, do they sell Franco American canned gravy in Arkansas? Or perhaps Martha White has a packaged gravy mix? Would seem perfectly logical to me, since she sells biscuits, that she would sell gravy mix as well?

Blue, I made the ketchup stuff for the meatloaf, but BF wanted gravy, so I tried. I sucked up with my baster some drippings out of the bottom of the pan. Maybe there wasn't enough for gravy, because after I added the rue, the gravy was tasteless. I've used those packages before, but I want to make my OWN. My orange chicken was good, but needed more ginger...but still pretty good.

Speaking of ginger ... has anyone else ever used it to reduce the ... uh ... gaseous effects of beans? You still "toot" but they smell great! We've nicknamed ginger "butt deoderant." Now you know!

What, no sausage? In TX, we prefer a quatrain.
