Home made Kung Pao Chicken tonight, over rice. Not bad. I'm still trying to find a recipe I like. I just can't get the sauce right. The directions usually assume you know what some of the steps are which they leave out of the instructions.
Next time I must remember to take the meat out of the marinade, not pour it along with the meat into the pan. Also, don't add the salt, it was too salty for me. Still, better than some I've had in restaurants.

I have trouble getting a sweet and sour sauce I like. Either too sweet...or too sour!!

My Bf made dinner tonight. When he makes dinner, all it includes is meat. No veggie, no starch, just a hunk of meat, which tonight were porkchops.

We're going to have panini sandwiches tonight, and sauteed patty pans ( the kids call them UFOs), sliced melon, maybe some applesauce...

Quick version of beef stew with thyme from the garden. I already made it since I have class tonight. Not bad, a bit salty. A panini sounds good! One of the best panini's I have had was after Thanksgiving. Turkey, cranberry chutney, and pecan cream cheese spread. YUM!

Must be stew night - we had fish stew (tilapia, faux lobster, corn, new potatoes, fresh spinach, peas), with fresh dill from the windowsill. I made a good egg bread in the machine, and we rounded out the meal with a green salad.
Paninis are one of my faves. A couple years ago my Mom gave us a panini grill, which we quickly labelled "Useless Dust Gatherer". Little did we know how often we'd actually use it! It's non-stick, and actually very handy for other cooking, like grilling tuna steaks, boneless chicken breasts, or veggies.

CB - we used to call it Food Stamp Casserole... ground beef, plus whatever canned stuff - tomatoes, corn, onions, etc, we had. We'd usually top it with grated cheese or parmesan. Not a fresh veggie in it, but tasty nonetheless.

We just had home raised Pork Loin with cranberry sauce, lasagna, baked butternut squash, broccoli, a potato casserole with cottage cheese, scallions, sour cream and cheddar and for dessert, a homemade cherry and pineapple ice cream.
Four turkeys in the barn and we ate pork...

Tonight we're having sliders. I'm making them out of ground turkey, instead of beef, because that's what's in the freezer. (Well, it's defrosting now, but you know what I mean.)
I've been amused recently at the resurgance of sliders on cookie cutter restaurant menus. We've been eating mini-burgers for our entire lives at our house, but now there's even an infomercial that sells a special slider pan. (Saw that the other night whe I fell asleep watching the Daily Show... the bearded guy who yells a lot sells it).
So... I didn't put anything up because of the move. Are you guys all still eating stuff you canned, froze or dehydrated yourself?

We occasionally get out a can of green beans or apple butter or whatever else we canned (or froze...), but we didn't put back enough not to buy stuff.
Last night I made blackened whitefish with sweet 'tater fries. The fam loves that. Don't know about tonight yet...

So I guess I'm gonna go boil me some skettie noodles, butter the crap out of them and add garlic powder, hot pepper flakes, italian seasoning and shredded cheese. Yes I'm lazy tonight.lol! Maybe this weekend I'll get stuff and make Alan my chicken and bowtie pasta dinner w/ onion, mushrooms, peppers, squash...and the usual garlic and such...

That's one of my fave pasta dishes. LOL! Pasta, lots of butter, sauted garlic, and a ton of parmesian cheese. I tell myself that garlic really is a veggie. Add some tuna or salmon and peas or brocolli, and you have a well rounded meal. My kids absolutely love it! It is really tasty. You can also add pine nuts or hemp seed when you saute the garlic. Yum!
