they really do, don't they sandbar! they keep us smiling, most of the time.
lost our dear Curly last night in a freak accident. a truck hit him around 9 o'clock on our dirt road out front. the guy was really sorry and very nice. not sure why Curly was in the road...probably sneaking back so no one noticed he was 'travelling'.

this morning i saw 8 eggs, barely visible in the snow, and went to gather them. Lizzie is now coming in to help me cause she's missing her partner Curly and seems lost without him. we're looking for another dog to adopt. think we found one called 'Prince Charming'!!! waiting to hear from the shelter. anyway, i go and pick 7 eggs up and can't find the other one???! i look over at the door and there's Lizzie standing there with an egg on the ground in front of her! i said ok, and let her have it. she brought it in the house and is cuddling it like a baby! she has taken it outside and lays by it?! we gotta find another pup and quick, before that egg hatches! can you believe it's snowed here all day???! at least it warmed up from 24F to 32F!

we're doing a HAPPY DANCE!!! after three days of going back and forth to town, we finally found Sammy and brought him home with us yesterday. Lizzie's really happy!
he rode in the car pretty well...drooled a little and threw up once. he's a three and a half month old border collie. sweetest little thing. very leggy and going to be a big pup we think.
on their first meeting, lizzie and sammy touched noses and the play was on! they bounced back and forth in their crouching 'fake 'i'm-going-to-get-you' stances. they had a ball. this morning, lizzie taught sammy how to dig holes and feed the ducks! the goats, thelma and louise, so far, have just watched him. pete thinks he's cool. the verdict is out with tuxie!
we're all breathing a sigh of relief here, a happy one! pics as soon as i find our camera!

I'm glad your new dog is working out, I have a 14 year old Yorkie that sleeps a lot now, I've out lived a couple other dogs so I know how you feel when you loose one. Great photos. George W.

all the ducks made it through the 'wintah'... fortunately, when they started laying eggs, they did it for a month plus in the pond...some still are... hubby rigged up this 'fancy' egg picker-upper to gather the eggs out of the pond... works great! and here's a plethora of what was gathered. none of them float, so they are all good. the ones that are cracked will be cooked up for critter food...pups and cats love duck eggs... one was even a double yolker...(the bacon didn't come with it, btw)... pete watching the ducks at a distance...and them watching him... sammy (center-right outside pen) loves to dig beside the duck pen and throw dirt at the ducks...they like it too... ducks watching sammy and lizzie playing (on top)... one of many of pete's favorite spots for 'hangin'' out...top of ducks' pen door... tuxedo posing outside of duck pen...he's not as fond of heights as pete is... "here kitty kitty kitty"... PEACE... pete has a 'crush' on sammie... lizzie doesn't feel like posing today... pete's such a big help on the farm. here he is helping sammy harness up for a walk/training... lizzie with her toy duck out on a walk... sammy and pete verses lizzie and toy duck...go... pete's tired and returns to duckpen door for a nap... hopeful to post pics of 'green' thingies soon...if the weather cooperates!
