At least she knows what it is! I went to a Nirvana concert once, and some dork in the audience yelled "Freebird!!!" - you know, like people do at every concert - and Nirvana started playing Sweet Home Alabama! Very funny, but at the same time, we weren't sure if Krist and Kurt even knew they were playing the wrong song! No, I take that back... we were pretty sure Novacelic knew, and that Cobain might have known if he still had all his synapses firing. In any case, it was funny, and they did a passable job of SHA....

Have you ever heard their really messed up version of the doors "the end"? I'm still not sure what that was all about.

True there, True there. I'm not sure whats worse, masacring a song while your on drugsthat you can ordinarily play when your not on drugs, or destroying a song that you can't play when your not on drugs. ;D

Oh, neither - this is the very very worst.... this is a long tale, so make sure you've got a snack....
I had a friend who was friends with the guy who used to tour manage the Violent Femmes. (it's a friend of a friend story - be warned). Femmes were playing in Seattle, and Christy (my friend) got tix and b/s passes for me, her, and one more. She invited Tommy... dumbass wannabe musician. Christy had all access pass for just herself, Tommy and I had to sit in the audience for the show. can't remember who opened, but this particular venue, there was a bar in the lobby. Between bands, he and I went to get a drink, and who's there, but DAVE GROHL. He says to me "Cool Show". I say something of the same thought. Then dickwad Tommy says "Hey, Dave, I'm a musician too! What do you think of playing together sometime? You guys are pretty good, but there are things I can do better. Your covers pretty much suck." and the KICKER "I can play 'Smells Like Teen Spirit'!!!" Damn! I was a dickwad by association, and I was SO mad. That's the worst - not playing badly, on or off drugs, but standing next to someone who DOES play badly, who's claiming to play better than the real musician right in front of him!!! Needless to say, I quickly ditched dickwad, despite the fact that I was supposed to be babysitting him for Christy, and went back stage by myself. It was awesome. Victor, who was the VF drummer at the time, is a great guy.

WOW. If I was Dave Grohl i'da been like; "really, how many platinum records are on your wall?"
Grohl is the man, exspecially as a drummer, the work he did with Queens of the Stone Age is amazing stuff, the stuff with NIN isn't bad either. He's a good solid drummer and not a bad songwriter/singer either.

Yeah - I'll never be famous, but I have had some decent brushes with greatness. It was just so rotten to have to have this particular one with dumbass Tommy. It's been like 14 or 15 years, and I'm still mad about that one! By the way - Foo Fighters do some decent covers. Perhaps lots of people told Grohl the Nirvana attempts at covers were way out there.

Did she say "Obscure Skynyrd Hits"? Sounds like another punk band name! ;D (or something Kurt Cobain was taking!)

Speaking of Nirvana and brushes w/ greatness. My husband (then future husband/weird older guy that I found interesting when I was 16) opened for Nirvana back in '87 or '88 at a club called Axis. It was before Bleach came out but they were featured on some early subpop compilation, as I recall. Our first argument was about N. He thought that they sucked and I disagreed. At any rate Cobain "slept" thoroughout their entire set, N. had a horrible drummer and a bad guitar player but I liked the sound in general, Chuck didn't. He actually caught Cobain trying to steal his guitar stand, confronted him and got it back. His drummer's watch was stolen. Overall, it was kind of sad, really. Anyway, Chuck later became a huge N. fan, and I hold my original judgement of the band over his head to this day. ;D
And Alan, Evelyn is a very odd but extremely gracious lady. She looks just like Roky. She was wearing a dress she bought in the 60's and could probably dance both of us under the table. My friend Tom filmed the show, I'll try to get a copy to send to you. It was fantastic.

Okay, I'm a bit late, but here goes. Horror (mostly Steven King and Dean Koontz). Classic Rock (you know the stuff from the '60's and '70's--real classics)
What are your favorite movies? That's a hard one, but I'll have to go with Stealing Home with Mark Harmon and Jodie Foster for a love story and Dead Poets Society with Robin Williams. The scene with 'carpe diem' really helped me thru a difficult time several years back.
