About diversity; we don't need to worry about tomatoes. However, I do worry very much about Will's biennials. The diversity loss there is staggering. And many if not all hybrids are male sterile. I've yet to find an OP cabbage that will grow well for me; most of the remaining OP varieties seem to have deteriorated, and no wonder with the emphasis on purity. Will's Biennial collection is to my mind one of the most valuable collections out there, just think of all the landraces it could create, and of the lifetime of work he put into maintaining the "hard stuff" . It's tough to create a landrace in a harsh climate with only a few varieties.
Has anybody done anything concrete to help back his stuff up? I'd like to, and wanted to join his replacement SSE, but it never seemed to come together. And as an individual I've lost too many crops to be confidant backing things up.
