Warm start to the year, temperature didn't go below 22degC over night thanks to wind flow off Australia.

Happy New Year to one and all. Yes, even here in the Australian high country it is a warm start to the year. Been above 30 C (~86 F) daytime temps for some time now. This is a relatively new phenomenon for us as our summers are usually in the 25 - 28 range (77 - 83), often less. Not a welcome change!

It is half past midnight, so Happy New Year and as there are five days of Christmas left, Merry Christmas.
I shot a few fireworks but it is so darned windy they were hard to light.
Been ten or so degrees above average on average here, thirty plus degrees F. but next week we are supposed to get normal teens and sub zero weather, I will be glad but we need a lot more snow.

Been raining, mostly gently, all day; radar shows it snowing well in the Coast Range N/W of the farm (my groundwater) and across the Central Valley in the Sierras (storage for much of Cali); excellent news! Bad for my work, short-run; good in the long-run; an occasional short famine is good for the waist-line; always a silver lining; if the glass looks half-full, get a smaller glass.
