The last 10 days have been very nice. Cold near fgreezing nights, but good coatless bicycle weather days. But today strong wind is predicted for the afternoon, and it is bringing cold. Not my favorite, but it is that time. I dug and potted 30 citrus half-breeds. The ground was very dry.

All day was hard, cold wind; not pleasant to work in. Right! The air was billowing with thistle seeds all day -- also unpleasant. We had our first light frost of the season this morning. A few weeks later than usual. Still not enough to kill off my remaining peppers and tomatoes.

50 degrees this morning with light mist, pissy all day, now it is 24 degrees and snowing lightly. Real winter is coming this week. Sadly the snow on the ground will probably stop the crushed granite driveway from from freezing down and if I use the snow blower it is will a rock shower in places. Some years back, not that long ago, I would rake or suck off with a wet-dry vac. five to fifteen gallons of crushed granite in spring.

The meager snow on Coastal peaks has disappeared, but it dropped to 32F last night; I was working in a T-shirt today and sweating.

Didn't know there was a Celsius - Fahrenheit debate, its only the Bahamas, Belize, Cayman Islands, Palau and the US who still use Fahrenheit.

IDK whether it should have been called a Felsius or Flesius . . . The US might well be the first to jump on a Flesius bandwagon.

Well whatever ya call it, we have just had our first couple days just at or under the freezing mark, down to 16 F one night. Even had a little bit of snow. Most of my winter crops still look pretty good but the green leafed chard is dropped down now. Pretty dry here too, Ohio River is about as low as I'v ever seen this time of year. I don't normally water fall planted trees but gave my new Asian Pears a nice drink just to be safe.

So far this Dec the mean temperatures are running at 20Cdeg where the average is 12deg, pumpkins and corn etc are loving this warmth just a matter of keeping the water up to them.

They've predicted light rain tonight, but no sign yet; troubling, since we've only gotten <half normal-to-date. I'm so backed up on work that I need dry weather to catch up, but frankly, I'd be better off rained out, in the longer run.

No freeze predicted for tonight. This will be the 5th night in a row that I haven't had to bring in my citrus. Usually this time of year, it is above freezing during the day and below at night. But anything is possible here.
