Talked to my sister near Denver yesterday. No fires in her immediate vicinity but air is such she can't go outside. Satellite shows high levels of carbon monoxide all over the west, the Amazon, Siberia. Isolated spots as high as 10,000 parts per billion, directly over the fires I reckon.

Frost hit near here last night, people posting photos of ice on puddles. Didn't get to my immediate area, thankfully, but in the low single digits predicted for the night temps the rest of the week.

wow, that's cold too soon for us! you must be uphill or further north? we've had rains the past few days and today is now sunny, breezy and warm. good to dry things back out again. tomorrow is supposed to be warm again and then cooling the rest of the week. which is fine with me as long as we don't get more rains. we can skip a few more days for that. i gotta get more beans picked...

Terribly dry here there are cracks in some fields that you can put your arm in up to your elbow.

Had a hard rain a couple of nughts ago. My 1/2 mastif 1/2 Great Dane dog climbed into bed with me when lightening hit nearby. 150 pounds of dog. Thinks she's a puppy.

I had a dog that size but he was very furry. In winter I'd but him at one end of the couch and stick my feet under him. Could have saved a lot of firewood but he would only tolerate it for so long before he wanted out. He especially liked sleeping in the snow.
