We are finally getting some rain, about an inch total so far. 1/2 an inch a couple days ago settled the dust and softened the ground so I got the rest of the garden planted last evening with beans and corn. Another 1/2 inch last night and raining pretty good right now. Maybe something will grow now.
Steve, no rain till October?? I guess you are able to water your stuff? You folks that are used to having to do that have a bit of an advantage in a way. I never used to have to worry about it all that much, now though...

heat waves have been so strange this year. early and then a break for a few days or a week, and then another round. the same pattern this week. hot, dry, then heat wave, no rain in the forecast. just about an inch the past few weeks. the tougher issue is that when we do get some rain it often comes down quick and a lot all at once. not often we get a longer soaking rain that can seep in.
normally i don't have to water too often, but that was last year when we had way too much rain. now we are coming up on the shorter end of things, which is ok for those on the beaches who are losing their property to erosion - the lakes will be able to fall a little now.

Damn HOT and DRY here. At least there isn't a giant Saharan dust cloud like in some places but who knows, another even bigger looking one is just now moving off Africa. And GOD DAMN IT! Wouldn't know they inhibit hurricane formation. SHIT, cause it looks like one of those years where the best shot of rain for us is the remnants of a big ass hurricane.

a few more days of mid-90sF and then we start moderating a bit. some rain in the forecast but none of it happening here yet. would be very welcome. otherwise the daily routine is to get up and get out in the gardens for a few hours before it gets too hot for me to tolerate. always plenty to do with this many gardens. pretty happy with how the vegetable gardens are doing other than some damage from critters getting through the fence.

Mostly hot and humid for several weeks. The babbling heads on TV have been spewing out the usual moronic bs about the weather, of course they are the same ones who peed and moaned about winter. Lawn has not liked the weather , installed irrigation system is worthless except where it hits the garden, so have to give them a call . Getting used to the sub-tropical weather so of course it is going to go away.
