We have several new members which is great. Keep up the good work and invite more!!! But what do you tell folks when you ask them to come join us here?? I've asked a couple and none have joined.

I tell 'em about how it's a great site, and what kinds of topics and people are here. One refused because of the language that caused Alan's banning from Idig. Another only has time to lurk occasionally. It seems like there were others I invited who did join, although who they were I don't recall.

Maybe you ought to invite that person again, Johno. I haven't seen any really offensive language here, and that whole thing on idig what SO stupid. Tell that person to cruise through on a visit, just to see. We are very cool, over hear!

I didn't intend to scare people away at Idig by expressing my feelings about a certain couple of posters and a seedsman who seemed "morally questionable and corruptible" at the time, but man, sometimes only certain words can get your point across, and I definitely wouldn't apologize to those people I directed that post too, if the ones reading it were offended as well and don't want to check out the site it's really their loss, I think were all adults and can deal with adult situations, including "fowl words" as Jere liked to call them. What it really came down to is racism and sexism and a bunch of Neo Cons and an supposed Neo Lib (Jere) condoning what was going on in that thread much to the dismay of several posters on that site, so I challenged their authority and they didn't like it.

Alan,
I don't know why they keep talking about a few "fowl" words. I found the treatment that you, Brook, myself, and a few others received at Idig as a greater problem.
Until Randel took over from Jere, the forum was a zoo (intended pun about zman) with some of the most foul minded people being allowed free rein ( another animal analogy).
Anything you said was far less offensive than anything that was said by other posters who weren't banned.

I think I will ask him again - he'd be a great addition.
Fowl words don't bother me at all...

I just invited clarkbar this week. I sent him a PM that basically said myself and a few other members belong to HG. That he should check it out. (And, yes, I named names ) lol

Why don't you try inviting the Western NYer we were talking about last night? I give up on trying. No one joins that I invite. I don't need an even bigger complex.

I invited BarryBlushes from IDIG. He and I have had lots of email conversations and I think he'd be a good contributor.
I don't really know what happened on Idig with Alan and Jere but I know that I am so sick of the Eric's and Fred's of that place. I have been stopping by there less and less.

... I have been stopping by there less and less. Jim I am kind of sick of the "holier than though" attitude and the inconsistant, selective moderation of the topics/posts. I've noticed alot of "regulars" not posting as much. And after reading the Tville thread, I wont be going there. People were definitely showing their true colors. One post implied the mods there had read PMs b/t members. That I didn't like at all.

Bet I hadn't been to T'ville in a couple of months. I don't go there much anymore because most of my questions go unanswered, as do my PM's.
But the other night , I got an email from a Digger asking me why I had been banned from T-ville? Seems there was mention of a Blue being banned.
So, off I went to T-ville. I checked my login and it was fine...Then I read the T-ville thread on iDig. I hadn't bothered to wade through it before, cuz I got enough shit to step in around home without reading it online. But it wasn't me they were talking about afterall, it was Bluelytes...
As far as IDig is concerned, I go there still for my Friends. There are a few that live in the area of BC that feel allegiance to the website. Loyalty to friends is a good thing. I don't have any in my real world, which means I have to share my time between here and there...

I think idig would be 1000000% better if the political thread was just removed. People just can't play nice. Plain and simple.

I voiced that opinion loud and clear when it started becoming a problem, more than once. All I can figure is that Jere is only concerned with the numbers, because controversy has sure brought in new members, some of whom don't talk about gardening at all.

Hi. I really like the political stuff, so I'm glad it's there at Idig. Sometimes it gets over the top, but that's life. I don't have anyone to argue politics with, my husband pretty much agrees with me, and my kids are too young!! I hope you don't mind if I join in here. Blame BlueLace, she invited me. I promise to behave, and I'll try not to suck up too much.
