Will see what I can do latter today, I know a few of those were actually doubles because some folks never got a confirmation e-mail the first time they registered, however like you said several have become inactive and or have never posted. I believe some of those who never posted may have been admins from other sites just keeping an eye on things but I don't know for sure.
Congrats Mantis on being member number 100 and welcome!

From what I have seen, there are a ton of folks that join and hang around, often never posting. For the record, in my case, I just haven't been spending a lot of time at forums in general of late. Not even lurking about.

And after reading the Tville thread, I wont be going there. People were definitely showing their true colors. One post implied the mods there had read PMs b/t members. That I didn't like at all. Moderators at Tomatoville® do NOT and cannot read PMs, period. The person that implied this at Idig is just trying to cause trouble and has no proof of this, for there isn't any. Please be careful when you repeat other people's hearsay as fact. Thank you.

Haven't you had a bad enough day over at Idig with an over-reaction to a post you misconstrued that you need to call people liars yet again? Geeze, Mischka!

No matter what the forum, there are always folks who join and don't actively post. Doesn't mean they aren't out there reading the posts on a regular basis. Just sometimes people are afraid to post for fear of appearing inadequate in the other members eyes.
But an email might bring attention to the fact that this site is becoming busier and probably will bring some members back.

Please be careful when you repeat other people's hearsay as fact. Are you serious? You honestly expect us to believe that NO ONE can read personal messages? Mischka, there are enough people around that know enough about how the various forum packages work, it's not that difficult. You know this, I know this, and anyone else who is interested enough to look knows it. I'm not implying that YOU are reading PM's, but there are quite a few others, it appears, that believe you are, and that boils down to a matter of honesty and integrity. If you don't want mod's reading your PM's, don't use the system's PM functions. Use email. --->Rob

I did send out an email to all members letting them know that we are still around and would love to have them come and check things out here on our site, it looks like a few people have come to check things out and that is a plus.

Alan, you have a good thing going here with some wonderful people who remember we all garden out of a love of it. Thank you for that. It is very nice to find places like this. You run a good board and your upbeat positive attitude is most refreshing.

The letter is working. I've seen new members online tonight and at present there are 11 persons viewing (7 members 4 guests)...

I wish someone would invite Larry S. He posts a lot on the political board but I think he'd contribute to the gardening posts here and he seems to be tiring of the Mayberry ideal at idig. (he recently described it as "disneyesque" and I agree) I won't post over there anymore but if someone else agrees about Larry and will go there, please send him an invite, if you are so inclined.

And yes, I do think a Mod of that style of forum can read PMs. I do not have an IQ of 2. I never said you did. If members of other forums want to play games with you, that's their choice. But its not going to happen here. I have no time for crap like that. So if you are not going to post anything useful here, just keep lurking. And remember- "Paranoia may destroy ya!"

I agree, there isn't going to be a forum war here, not involving our posters anyhow, they are good people interested in GARDENING and not fighting, this thread was intended to be about inviting members and yet once again, just like the first time that we did this when we started we are getting crossover from the other forum arguments which I don't enjoy at all, I extended an Olive branch to all the forums except for Jeres when I started this and only one, Tomatoland accepted that olive branch, tomatoville on the other hand became very cold to my presence which is why I no longer post there unless it happens to be a topic I am very interested in.
If you want to have a war find an independent third party to set up a board specifically for such an event.
Michka, please don't imply that our posters have stated a fact when in fact they posted that it was implied. More importantly are you going to be a contributor to this site or just jump in on forum wars? Because if it's just about forum wars then please move on or accept being banned.
Furthermore, i'm not sure what's going on at Idig and I'm not sure I really care because I'm pretty sure whatever it is it is flat out some f'd up B.S. straight out of pleasentville but then again unlike a certain board owner i've never waivered on my opinion of Jere and his "happy fun time land" extravaganza and his loss is our gain anyhow.

Anyhow, back to inviting new members. I have no problem with new member and definetly encourage it, I leave it up to you folks to decide on who to invite and who not to because I don't frequent other boards all that often and I no longer am "enlightened" enough according to the all powerful "Jere" of Oz to visit his site so I don't know who is and isn't a trouble maker from there.
What I do know Is I don't like banning people or having them messing with our members and I'll keep a good eye on that, if you find someone questionable then remember to think twice before inviting them.
That said, to those of you who have got new members to join, thank you very much, this forum is on it's way to becoming a great public domain of information, friendship, knowledge sharing and seed sharing!
